Parque de la Batería is a privileged place in Montemar Alto, where you can do sports, walk or relax with one of the best views of Torremolinos.
What is Parque de la Batería like?
Facing the sea, with its Mirador Tower in front, is Parque de la Batería, a place of recreation with more than 74,000 square meters enjoying nature and tranquility.
Parque de la Batería is divided into different leisure areas. The artificial lake stands out, where rowing in their boats becomes an adventure; the Venetian merry-go-round; the Tree of the Pacifier, one of the few in Spain, to say goodbye to such a precious object, facilitating the change to "being older" and, of course, the lookout tower, where you can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Torremolinos .
(The watchtower elevator and the Venetian merry-go-round are currently closed due to Covid19)
In addition, in the summer of 2021 a new space was inaugurated in Parque de la Batería dedicated by and for culture: a stage with benches arranged as an amphitheater to carry out different cultural activities that can be enjoyed with family and friends (concerts, theatrical performances , music festivals, animations, etc.) in the open air and with the best views of the city as a backdrop.
Within the physiognomy of the park, the Venetian-style carousel stands out with more than 50 figures of giraffes, horses and floats.
Another attraction of Parque de la Batería is its large artificial lake of more than 9,000 square meters. In the center, the God Neptune, in the form of a statue, will accompany you on your visit while you enjoy a pleasant boat trip, thanks to the boat rental service.
It is Torre Mirador, a modern tower 15 meters high, offers the best views of Torremolinos and the Bay of Malaga. It also has an elevator that takes you to the top, from where you can enjoy the views of the Costa del Sol.
The Parque de la Batería is a leisure space very focused on families and in it is the first Tree of Pacifiers in Spain. It is a Swedish tradition that, little by little, is becoming popular in other countries. A ritual to help the child in the farewell of the pacifier. In this area of ??the park, the little ones accompanied by their families, can hang their last pacifier together with a note, a drawing or a quote and visit it every day they come to the park.
In its 74,000 square meters there is a fabulous network of paths with cobbled paths and different ornamental elements in its path. The park also has several sports areas, such as the bike path and the running track. In addition, spread throughout the park, there are five differentiated sports areas for anyone who wants to carry out their exercise routine while enjoying nature.
The history of the park indicates that it is not trivial, since the name has its origin in the old coastal defensive battery that existed in the area, and that protected the city at different stages in the history of Torremolinos from attacks by sea. Along with the artillery cannons that can be found in the park, two underground bunkers are also preserved.
